In 1997, the old Goldstone Ground in Hove was sold for a pittance by a less than honest director of Brighton & Hove Albion. It's been a long arduous battle but finally the club will be playing in a beautiful new stadium next season. For 2 years Albion played 80km away at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium. Since then, the club have played at Brighton's athletic stadium at Withdean. It has all been a far cry from when, in the 80's I watched them playing in the top division against the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool. Plus the FA Cup Final matches against Manchester United in 1983.

In August the 'Seagulls' will be playing in the Championship - OK they won't be up against Arsenal or Manchester City but they will be competing with West Ham, Portsmouth, Birmingham City and Cardiff!
