Brighton - Max Miller

This statue was erected in 2010 by the Max Miller Appreciation Society. A plaque standing alongside reads: "Max Miller was Britain's top 'stand-up' comedian in the 1930s, 40s & 50s. Max was born in Brighton where he lived all his life. Known as 'The Cheeky Chappie', Max also starred in films and revues, and wrote and sang his own distinctive songs. 'There'll Never Be Another!' "

Brighton Wheel

Brighton Wheel - photo Robert Bovington 12 May 2012

extract from Wikipedia:
The Brighton Wheel was erected in October 2011 on the seafront in Brighton. It has planning permission to remain in place until 2016. Situated below the East Cliff near Brighton Pier and built with private funding, its promoters anticipate that several hundred thousand visitors per year will experience the 12-minute ride. The wheel's location in a conservation area with many residential buildings has proved controversial.
